Beautiful set of four mid-century Swedish ceramic wall plaques designed by Staffan Johnsson for JIE Gantofta. Each plaque depicts a different Scandinavian bird species — finely detailed in raised relief with delicate color glazes and naturalistic charm. These plaques belong to the Landskapsfågel (Provincial Birds) series, celebrating regional wildlife of Sweden. Crafted in the second half of the 20th century, they remain in very good vintage condition, each stamped and signed on the back. Perfect for collectors of Scandinavian ceramics, mid-century design, or nature-inspired wall art.

Founded in 1942 in Helsingborg, Sweden, JIE Gantofta became one of the country’s leading art pottery producers. Known for combining modern Scandinavian design with artisanal craftsmanship, the company produced decorative ceramics, wall plaques, and figurines that balanced simplicity with natural motifs. JIE’s mid-century creations are now highly collectible for their artistic and cultural value.

Staffan Johnsson was a Swedish ceramic designer whose work for JIE Gantofta exemplified Scandinavian modernism. His designs often drew inspiration from nature — especially birds and animals — blending realistic forms with a minimalist aesthetic. Johnsson’s wall plaques and figurines remain sought-after examples of mid-century Scandinavian artistry and timeless design.
