A charming small amphora-shaped sugar bowl from the mid-20th century, part of the Windsor Green series. Made from durable ironstone porcelain, it features a classic green transferware pattern with festoon and floral motifs along the rim. Gracefully proportioned with decorative side handles, it embodies the timeless elegance of British tableware design from the 1950s and 1960s. This piece is marked on the base with the original underglaze green stamp used by the manufacturer. It is lightly damaged at the base (minor flaw or hairline crack) but remains decorative and collectible.
Produced by Ridgway Potteries Ltd, a renowned Staffordshire manufacturer with roots tracing back to the early 19th century and the historic J. & W. Ridgway works. The company was a key figure in English ceramics, known for its high-quality export and domestic wares.
The “Windsor” pattern continues the tradition of the earlier Windsor Festoon design from the 1830s, inspired by Regency-era ornamentation and valued for its refined, botanical detailing.
