A classic English coffee pot from the mid-20th century, decorated with the Windsor Green pattern – an elegant composition of green floral festoons inspired by Regency-era design. The pot is made from durable ironstone porcelain, suitable for everyday use, yet refined in both shape and decoration. A delicately moulded rim and graceful silhouette make this a sophisticated example of British functional art.
The maker, Ridgway Potteries Ltd, was one of the oldest family-run ceramic manufacturers in Staffordshire, directly descended from the historic J. & W. Ridgway works (active from 1814 in Cauldon Place). The company was renowned for export-quality porcelain and fine domestic wares, continuing production until its incorporation into Royal Doulton in 1972.
The “Windsor” pattern is a continuation of the earlier Windsor Festoon decoration used as early as the 1830s—known for its garland motifs, botanical elegance, and soft, balanced colour palette.
