This charming set of six small decorative plates features nostalgic Dutch countryside scenes, rendered in classic cobalt blue on a white ground in the traditional Delftware style. Each plate depicts children at play, engaged in rustic pastimes or pastoral life, surrounded by floral and geometric motifs. Produced in the second half of the 20th century, these plates were made by Boch for Royal Sphinx in the Netherlands. The reverse bears the factory mark. Perfect for display, these petite plates add vintage European charm to any wall or cabinet arrangement.

Delft ceramics, also known as Delftware, is a type of hand-painted tin-glazed earthenware that has been produced since the 17th century in the Dutch city of Delft. Inspired by Chinese porcelain, it is characterized by a white tin glaze with decorations, most often in shades of blue (known as Delft Blue), depicting Dutch scenes, floral motifs, and biblical imagery. It was made in the form of plates, vases, tiles, and jugs. The most famous still-operating manufacturer is Royal Delft (De Porceleyne Fles). Delftware differs from true porcelain in its material (earthenware), hand-painted decoration, and often the presence of factory marks or date codes on the underside.

Please note: One plate has a damaged edge, clearly shown in the photos.

Boch was a well-known Belgian ceramics manufacturer with a strong collaboration history with Dutch producers. In the 20th century, Boch produced high-quality pieces for Royal Sphinx, a prestigious brand rooted in the legacy of Petrus Regout.

Royal Sphinx, based in Maastricht, was recognized for its beautiful Delftware and decorative ceramics that blended traditional Dutch artistry with industrial craftsmanship. The signature on the bottom was used from 1969 to 1979.
